Dear Students, Graduates, Family & Friends, and Guests
I sincerely apologize for being tardy on this newsletter. So much to do with so little time, it seems! I am currently undertaking the second from the last online post-professional course through Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska to fulfill the completion of my doctoral degree in physical therapy. I will be completely done with the advanced physical therapy studies after the summer in 2009. 2 weeks ago my father-in-law who had acute leukemia passed away. He was 74 years old. I went to Wisconsin to participate in the funeral service. My wife was already there.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
Finally! Dolphin’s website is online. The address is: www.dolphindoctor.org. The calendar of events is always updated, so please check it regularly. You will find Clent’s progress in this website. He has generated tremendous interest and inquiry from around the world. At 24 weeks in the program, he has lost 151 pounds. Enjoy learning more about the raw food lifestyle!
It’s My Turn: Last month, in June, I celebrated 2 anniversaries, first was my 16th year wedding anniversary, and second my 1 year anniversary of being 100 percent raw and I have never felt better! I feel like I am 20 years old! And it has been 3 years and 10 months since I started my raw food lifestyle journey with my wife Amy beginning with the Hallelujah Diet & Lifestyle. I can truly say now for myself and for those who are interested in the raw food lifestyle that this is where the “fountain of youth” begins. God gave it to us in Genesis 1:29 when he outlined the advanced directive for our bodies to maintain vibrant health. For thousands of years this Garden of Eden Diet & Lifestyle has withstood the test of time. Many have forgotten this original lifestyle and we have come full-circle and now there is no doubt that this raw food lifestyle is the best for mankind to maintain optimal health in an imperfect world. “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32).
Wednesday July 2, I broke my 2006 weight-lifting record when I pushed 1,060 pounds of free weights at the gym doing the leg press on the sled machine. I was able to do 5 reps. My previous record was 1000 pounds. On the high school track yesterday, I also broke another record running the 400 meters at a 5:12 mile pace. Over the last several months I was only able to run the 400 at a 6:30 mile pace. So it was great to see the progress.
The topics that will be covered in this newsletter are:
1.What about nutritional supplements?
2. What do those sticker numbers on the fruits/vegetables mean?
3. The Hallelujah 85 and The Hallelujah 100 (Dolphin’s version).
4. The ultimate fat burning and strength gaining lean machine…Fit10.
1. What about nutritional supplements? It is my opinion that there is a place and time to use nutritional supplements. We need to understand that our bodies are designed to take the nutrients from the food we eat. Supplements are not food. No one can live on supplements alone. We can survive on cooked food alone, which is what most people are doing now. However to live a vibrant healthy quality of life, it is more than just surviving. Following a raw food lifestyle is the key to vibrant health. Our bodies are designed to consume raw foods to live long and remain healthy until death.
Part of the living foods category in the Hallelujah Diet consists of the raw dehydrated organic powdered green and vegetable juices (especially good when traveling or away from home):BarleyMax – 80 percent barley grass juice/20 percent alfalfa grass juice dehydrated at less than 107 degrees F. BarleyMax is used daily as part of the Hallelujah Diet meal plan to enhance the nutrient density intake for the day. Rich in chlorophyll, live enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and additional trace minerals (from the alfalfa) and phytonutrients. Wheat grass juice is also an excellent source of nutrient density. Wheat grass the way it is grown and harvested in a few days contains simple sugar and the nutrients come inherent from the seed, while the barley grass is harvested after being grown in mineral rich soil for 7 months, and therefore comes with complex sugar. Cereal grasses grown in mineral rich soil, with roots extending several feet down have higher nutrient density than those with shallow roots. That is why barley grass is recommended over wheat grass in the Hallelujah Diet. Note that there are pulverized dehydrated barley grasses in powder form that looks similar to the dehydrated barley grass JUICE in powder form. The difference is the PULVERIZED version is cheaper to produce and has the fiber in it. Remember with fiber, the nutrient uptake to cellular level will be significantly lower than juice because of the processing that has to take place with energy spent. CarrotjuiceMax – 25 pounds of organic carrots juiced and dehydrated at less than 107 degrees F. Convenient to use when traveling or away from home. BeetMax – 12-15 pounds of organic beets juiced and dehydrated at less than 107 degrees F.
The most widely used nutritional supplements on the Hallelujah Diet are as follows:Fiber Cleanse – Colon cleanser taken only the first 3 months on the Hallelujah Diet. It functions like a rota-rooter removing parasites, mucus build up, toxins, and at the same time promote healing of the inflamed lining of the intestinal tract. The damage to the intestinal lining is due to the abuse of food (SAD foods). Without the use of a cleanser, absorption of nutrients from food is compromised, and results are slow. This product reboots the intestinal tract so it can start clean again. Vitamin B12 sublingual methyl cobalamin (with B6 and Folic) – the only vitamin supplement taken regularly on the Hallelujah Diet. Probiotics – broad spectrum “good bacteria” necessary for the colon. People who have taken antibiotics or drink chlorinated water and have abused food show signs of inversion of the normal ratio of good to bad bacteria (normal flora). Yeast infection is a typical case scenario of a gut normal flora imbalance. Until this imbalance is addressed, digestion will be a problem and B12 production will be deficient. Probiotics are refrigerated to stay viable. Digestive Enzymes – broad spectrum digestive enzymes used to assist digestion of cooked foods (15 percent of the food in the Hallelujah Diet is cooked). Using supplemental digestive enzymes will reduce the load on the body to produce its own digestive enzymes to digest the cooked food. Vital energy is therefore conserved for other things like healing the body. Not typically used by people who are 100 percent raw food eaters. B-Flax-D – stabilized organic ground flax seed supplemented with methylcobalamin (B12) and vit. D3. Used as additional fiber supplement following the use of Fiber Cleanse. Curcumin – a derivative of the Indian spice Turmeric. It is an extremely powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. It also enhances the flow of bile (not recommended for people with blocked bile ducts). This supplement detoxifies the body (phase 1 and 2). Used by people who are trying alternative natural healing from serious diseases like cancer. Serrapeptase – a powerful proteolytic enzyme that breaks down dead tissue in the body. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory. It can be used to help relieve pain as a result of inflammation. Taken on an empty stomach.
The supplements listed above are not for everyone on the Hallelujah Diet. There is a time and place for using these supplements when initially getting the body back from diseased-state to health. Consult a qualified health care professional for more information.

2. What do those sticker numbers on the fruits/vegetables mean? The numbers found on the small labels on the fruits or vegetables helps the buyer to determine how the produce was grown, whether organic, conventional, or genetically modified. So it pays to read those stickers. Containerized foods do not require the numbers to be displayed. The only way to tell if the containerized food is not GMO or conventional is the label ORGANIC.
If the label shows 4 digits, the product is conventionally grown, which likely will have pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other toxins related to mass producing it.
If the label shows 5 digits beginning with number 9, the product is organically grown.
If the label shows 5 digits beginning with number 8, the product is genetically modified (GMO). Produce that is genetically modified is able to withstand a slew of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides while killing everything around it. It is my opinion that eating a GMO product is like eating a “monster” because it survived a “Hiroshima bombing” flood of poison, and still looks edible for consumption.

3. The Hallelujah 85 and Hallelujah 100 (Dolphin’s version): Those of you familiar with the Hallelujah Diet know that it is an 85 percent raw 15 percent cooked vegan vegetarian diet. Typical generic meal schedule for the day is:
Breakfast – BarleyMax grass juice
Mid morning – Fresh vegetable juice (2/3 carrot, 1/3 greens)
Lunch – BarleyMax grass juice followed 30 minutes later by large green salad or fruit bowl
Mid afternoon – Fresh vegetable juice
Dinner – BarleyMax grass juice followed 30 minutes later by another large salad and then a cooked vegetable entrée (baked potato, steamed vegetables, brown rice, etc).
Snack – Fruit (limit to 15 percent of the entire food for the day)
Dolphin’s Hallelujah 100 came out of the Hallelujah 85/15 system. This is a 100 percent raw food dietary regimen. Here is a generic meal schedule:
Breakfast – BarleyMax grass juice followed 30 minutes later by a green smoothie
Mid morning – Fresh vegetable juice or fresh fruit
Lunch – BarleyMax grass juice followed 30 minutes later by a green smoothie leafy green salad (lots of vegetable colors if possible), sprouts, seeds, and nuts
Mid afternoon – Fresh vegetable juice
Dinner – BarleyMax followed 30 minutes later by a green smoothie, vegetable salad, sprouts, specialty dehydrated raw food dish
Snack – Green Smoothie or fruit
Note: Generic means that the menus and schedule needs to be customized to fit the individual’s needs and body type. Following the above generic meal schedule may be fine but it is your responsibility to make sure it works for you. However for those of you who are not familiar with a high raw diet, it is highly recommended that you read, study, and learn as much as possible before venturing in this area of dietary regimen. A good way to get an in-depth learning and proper monitoring of the dietary regimen and possible individual customizing of the program is to join the 10-week Get Healthy Boot Camp.
4. The ultimate fat burning and strength gaining lean machine…Fit10
This is a new exercise program taught in the Boot Camp to maximize lean mass and fat loss. It was demonstrated at Hallelujah Acres during 10th Annual Health Minister Reunion earlier this year. It is extremely powerful and emphasizes anaerobic high intensity training all within 10 minutes per day. The Fit10 can be used anywhere when traveling as long as there is a standard door to attach it to. Clent is on this program besides other exercise regimen. You may view Clent performing the Fit10 routine by clicking Clent in the photo section of dolphin’s website. You can enlarge the pictures by clicking on them as well. You can also view the Fit10 at www.fit10.com. It sells for $99 at Dolphin. Combining the Fit10 with a mini-trampoline reduces the loading impact on the feet when running in place. Excellent cardio! Definite improvement within 1 month!
REMINDER: NEW! Green Smoothie Drive-Thru in Medford. Finally we have a drive-thru for people that love fresh green smoothies, fresh carrot juice, wheat grass and other vegetable juices that meet the Hallelujah Diet standards. Epic Espresso Coffee Store & Juice Bar at 3309 Biddle Rd (282-7889) in Medford across the airport opened the second week of this month. The owner is Cynthia Biondi. She is a Get Healthy Boot Camp graduate. Medford is a coffee-loving city (as all the towns and cities in this valley), which is why organic coffee is offered besides the green smoothies and vegetable juices in hopes of educating and winning the public to select healthier foods and drinks!
REMINDER: Dolphin’s Annual Mt. Whitney Hiking Expedition is Tuesday September 2, 2008 (the day after Labor Day). This is a hike that is done all in one day. We drive to Lone Pine, CA on Sunday or Monday. Then early Tuesday morning at 3:00 AM we meet at the Whitney Trailhead. The total roundtrip mileage is approximately 25 miles or 15 hours (including the 1 hour rest and enjoying the view at the top). It takes approximately 8-9 hours to reach the summit. It takes approximately 6 hours to get back down. We return to Medford Wednesday September 3. This is a beautiful, exhilirating, spectacular, challenging, and strenuous hike. This is one hike you will never forget! It is so much fun that we do this every year! The hike serves as a goal for those who are pursuing nutritional excellence and superior health (that’s if you enjoy the outdoors). Dolphin’s day hike permit allows up to 15 persons in the group. I will confirm the final person count later this month. If you are interested to join the group or if you want more information, call 857-2678 or email dmiven@msn.com. NEXT MONTH’S TOPICS…
Osteoporosis. Fibromyalgia. Vegetarian versus vegan, which is healthier?
As always, I am happy to serve you and help you achieve a high quality of life through following the natural laws of health. Health is earned. Sickness is by default.
“Dying is Easy. You have to WORK at staying ALIVE.” (Jack LaLanne age 93).
“All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever”. 1 Peter 1:24, 25.
With regards to all the science and “smarts” that we think we have, today’s standards in nutrition and lifestyle do not compare with the Garden of Eden diet & lifestyle as mentioned in Genesis 1:29. That is why I have a very high confidence in the health benefits that come from following the Hallelujah Diet & Lifestyle. We are a “quantum leap” ahead of the game when it comes to health.
