There's been a lot of hype in the news lately about the swine flu. And most recently one adult person here in Medford died as a result of it. Another adult was flown to Portland, Oregon for advanced intervention. A number of my patients and their children have had the swine flu. I treated a patient who had symptoms of the beginning of the flu. A few days later he stayed home with the swine flu. Are we to be concerned of this flu outbreak? Throughout history there has been various disease epidemics and pandemics. In the 14th century the Black Death swept through Europe destroying some 30-60 percent of the population. The plague was thought to have been caused by the bacteria known as Yersinia pestis, spread by fleas on rats. Other sources claim it may have been due to a viral hemorrhagic fever. The signs and symptoms included swelling in many parts of the body, bloody pus oozing from skin, and cough with bloody sputum, joint pains, headaches, nausea, fever, generalized weakness and death within a short period of days. You can read more about this interesting bit of history by clicking on this link regarding Black Death. The bottom line is that it did not destroy everyone. But it was enough to scare a lot of people at that time. The publicity of the swine flu has no doubt scared the public enough to worry about the low supply of the vaccine in circulation. When there is a low supply and high demand, it enforces on the mind of the casual observer the urgent need of the vaccine. It appears the pharmaceutical industry may have not anticipated this high demand to have made more vaccines in advance. Or did they? Or is it possible this is a method to steer the opinion and thinking pattern of the public? Do you believe everything you hear in the media? Remember "the end justifies the means"? Whatever... There is so much information about the H1N1 flu vaccine. Just go to the CDC website to read more about it. From another perspective go to mercola.com. There are many who are for or against vaccines. I have been in the healthcare arena for nearly 23 years. I learned more about vaccinations in depth while in health professional schools. I have received vaccines as a child, as a student and as a healthcare provider because it was all that I knew until I learned about the raw food lifestyle 10 years ago. There is no doubt that vaccines have and can save lives. One must evaluate his or her knowledge, beliefs, experiences, and personal responsibility regarding vaccinations to make a wise informed choice. Being irresponsible in personal health may require the need for vaccination because the benefits outweigh the risks for the moment. But for the responsible healthy individual, the risks outweigh the benefits. Unfortunately there is too much misinformation leading to confusion in the subject of vaccination. Because my focus is natural health I do not put known poisons into my body, and vaccines are not an exception. Poisons interfere with the natural healing. I believe that what I do to my body must be a win-win situation. The use of vaccines is not a win-win situation. You may win now (not get the disease) at the expense of a loss (get another disease from toxicity) usually later in life, in the form of chronic degenerative diseases including neurological disorders. The analogy of a glass of wine a day may be good for the heart but kills the nerve cells. In the long haul, you lose more than win. That is my take on vaccines. The beauty about following the raw food lifestyle is that we really should not worry about sickness and disease. The Bible tells us that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (KJV Psalms 139:14). It means God made the human body to have the ability to repair, heal and regenerate itself. We need to guard this God-given ability with the utmost care because without health, life is quite miserable. The advanced directive found in Genesis 1:29 (look it up) is what we need to follow to get through this fiery health trials and emerge victorious because it is God's way, not our way! According to the CDC website flu activity is now widespread in 48 states. The H1N1 flu viral infection is too numerous to count. For those who have weak immune system, it can be dangerous. So what we can learn from this health mayhem is to arm ourselves and aggressively support the immune system at all times in order for our bodies to function at its best and not become overwhelmed by diseases. And the raw food lifestyle God's way is definitely the answer! Thank God for raw! MD. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
